Midipipe for mac4/24/2023 ![]() Now go to some app on the ipad that has bluetooth midi(ac sabre, steppolyarp, chordpolypad are few, but there are others) and select connect to the mac from the bluetooth midi setup. Then click the bluetooth icon on it and click advertise. On mac side go to audio midi setup and to midi studio window(from the upper tab thing select window and midi studio if it opens on the audio side). Would it be too much trouble to post the steps?Īlso, thanks I'd forgotten about Apollo! I should give it a try as said:Īlso, thanks I'd forgotten about Apollo! I should give it a try as well. I actually tried to get this to work before I posted but could never get the OS bluetooth to see the iPad. ![]() Not sure which ones are the oldest, but my mid 2014 mpb has it, and i think one before had it also, but not sure. Keep in mind that you need a mac that supports the new bluetooth LE(/4.0). Regardless of rationale, Apple CCK buyers beware! Maybe this is where the $8-10 MIDI Mobilizer fits said:Įdit. I think it's pure product differentiation BS to make people buy iPads rather than any hardware limitation of modern iPhones. Apple specifically markets the CCK for iPad-only. I wonder how well it plays in a AB3 universe?īTW, there's a temptation to use Apple's CCK with an iPhone, but last time I tried it was still a "no joy" situation. I see the $5 Apollo MIDI Controller app claims this feature. Does anybody know how to do this? Are there any free apps that set up BT MIDI broadcasting? I tried MidiMittr and several of the Yamaha apps but no immediate success. ![]() It's probably dead simple once I look in the right place but I just haven't figured out how to make it happen. What I thought about doing is using one of my Apple Camera Connector Kits (100% reliable MIDI input) with a USB cable from my MIDI keyboard into my iPad Mini, then broadcasting Bluetooth MIDI from my iPad Mini. Reviews on Amazon and eBay are not good (2-3 stars overall) due to latency and other issues. If you happen to have an old iPhone 4s laying around you could attach it to a line 6 midi mobilizer 2 which are dirt cheap on eBay now Not sure which ones are the oldest, but my mid 2014 mpb has it, and i think one before had it also, but not said: Its a bit hassle to figure out first.Įdit. I can tell you more detailed instructions if you need. And select midi sources on computer to send to ipad on midipipe(keep in mind that if you disconnect the bluetooth connection, the ipad output on midipipe goes offline and stick to offline even after you re-establish the connection, so you need to reopen midipipe each time you want to set the connection, but its easy to just save a template(or "pipe" as they call it) and open it). Basically you just advertise bluetooth on either the ipad(most apps cant do this, but quite a few can, and you just need it for connecting, then midi works to all apps, i usually use steppolyarp or chorpolypad), then click connect from other device. I also use this app called midipipe(its free) on mac to route my midi, so that i dont have to use some daw or other heavier programs to select where to send what midi sources(it also has some midi filters similar to some on ab3). Works like a charm and no noticeable latency. ![]() I have macbook pro and if(or more like when as 2/3rds of my midi sending hardware goes through it) i want midi from computer to ipad i use the native bluetooth thing.
